Allegheny Successful at Kent State

KENT, Ohio – The Allegheny College women's track & field team had a trio of strong performances from its 2006 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship qualifiers on Saturday, each setting the stage for a possible 2007 Indoor Championships bid.

Emily Pfeufer (St. Mary’s, Pa./Elk County Catholic) placed sixth among the competitors in the triple jump, finishing with a distance of 35-7, while also tying for tenth in the long jump, leaping to a distance of 16-9.25.

Sarah Sammel (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park) tied for fifth in the pole vault, clearing 10-6.25 along with two other players, as each had the same number of misses in the competition.

Elizabeth Earley (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) a day after re-setting her own school record in the weight throw, placed 22nd in the shot put with a toss of 37-6.

The Gators take a month off, before traveling to Fredonia, New York to compete at the Fredonia State Invitational on January 20.
