Boxscore

KENT, Ohio – The Allegheny College Gators fell to 4-4 in the North Coast Athletic Conference and 10-4-2 on the season with a 3-1 loss to the Terriers of Hiram College (9-6-1, 2-6-0 NCAC) on a cold Tuesday afternoon.

The game, which was moved to the German Family Society due to poor field conditions at Hiram, went through a scoreless first half before the host Terriers scored two goals early in the second half, just five and seven minutes into the period, respectively.

The Gators countered with a goal of their own when Jim Beyer (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) picked up a loose ball in the box, and beat the Hiram keeper, cutting the deficit in half at 2-1.

The hosts added an insurance goal with just over ten minutes to play in the game, converting on a penalty kick, giving the Terriers a 3-1 lead which they kept through the remainder of the contest.

Ryan Larkin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) stopped three shots in the loss, as the Gators out-shot the Terriers by a 14-10 margin.

The Gators look to keep their conference playoff hopes alive with a victory on Saturday against the Tigers of Wittenberg University. The game, which is homecoming and senior day for the Gators, is set to start at 1:00 p.m. at the newly renovated Frank B. Fuhrer Field.
