Gators Slip in NSCAA/adidas® Rankings Oct 10, 2006 National Rankings (.pdf) MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College men’s soccer team, ranked as high as No. 15 this season, dropped off the NSCAA/adidas® national top 25 following a 1-0 upset to Kenyon College in North Coast Athletic Conference action last week. The Gators retained a top-five standing in the regional poll, falling just two spots to No. 5. Allegheny (8-2-2) opened last week with an impressive 4-0 victory over Oberlin College before the unexpected loss to the Lords. The Gators, who were slotted at No. 21 in the most recent rankings, had been on the poll in four of the previous five weeks. Ohio Wesleyan University (8-0-2) is the only remaining NCAC team in the top 25 as the Battling Bishops retained their hold on the fifth spot. In the regional poll, Ohio Wesleyan continued its iron grip on the top spot, followed by Case Western Reserve University (10-1-1), Baldwin-Wallace College (10-1-1), and The College of Wooster (8-1-1). The Gators could make another jump up both polls following a big conference showdown with Wooster on Wednesday, October 11, under the lights at Frank B. Fuhrer Field in Meadville, Pa., at 7 p.m. In what has become a budding rivalry in the NCAC, Allegheny has won three of the last four contests with the Fighting Scots.
