![]() Gators Finish Second at Vulcan Invite Oct 7, 2006 Team Results CALIFORNIA, Pa. – In a field consisting entirely of NCAA Division II institutions, the Allegheny College women’s golf team capped a strong performance with a second-place finish at the Vulcan Invitational hosted by California (Pa.) University on October 6-7. The Gators posted the second-best scores on each day of the two-day tournament, posting rounds of 359 and 349 to finish 19 strokes off the pace set by the host Vulcans (343-346=689). Allegheny used a five-stroke advantage on the final day to solidify its position ahead of third-place Kutztown University (360-354=714). Sophomore Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) improved five strokes on day two to finish in a team-best tie for sixth with a total of 173 (89-84). She finished just ahead of teammates Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) and Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) who put carded two-day totals of 175 and 176 to finish in a tie for 10th and 13th overall, respectively. Also competing for the Gators were sophomore Lauren Torso (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley), who finished a tie for 19th with identical rounds of 92, and freshman Kim Elam (Batavia, Ill./Batavia), who accumulated 190 strokes over the two days to tie for 25th. Next up for Allegheny is its only home event of the year, the Allegheny Invitational, on Tuesday, October 10.
