Boxscore

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Sophomore Christy McShea (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) tallied the only goal in the 63rd minute to lead visiting Allegheny College to a 1-0 victory at Case Western Reserve University in non-conference women’s soccer action on Tuesday evening.

After a scoreless first half in which both sides fired off five shots a piece, McShea put the Gators (7-4) on the board just over 12 minutes into the second stanza. The lone goal came via Allegheny’s only corner kick in the contest, which was fired off by senior Emily Spencer (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen) who notched an assist on the play.

Case (3-7-1) continued its attack throughout the final period, shooting off 10 attempts at the Gator goal, but first-year keeper Michelle Welker (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) thwarted all, tallying six saves to pick up her fourth shutout of 2006.

The Spartans out-shot the visitors 15-9, including seven by Katie Duracky alone. McShea led Allegheny with three shots.

The Gators resume their conference slate this weekend against league-leading Denison University on Saturday, October 7, at 1 p.m. at Robertson Field. The Big Red knocked off Ohio Wesleyan University 3-0 on Tuesday night.
