Gators Jump Back Into Top 25 Oct 3, 2006 National Rankings (.pdf) MEADVILLE, Pa. – After a one-week hiatus from the NSCAA/adidas® national top 25, the Allegheny College men’s soccer team leaped back into the poll as the 21st-ranked NCAA Division III squad in the country. The Gators also made a move up the regional rankings, jumping one spot from fourth to third this week. Allegheny (7-1-2, 1-1-0 NCAC) dropped out of the top 25 last week for the first time all season, but the Gators made a triumphant return as the result of a 4-1 whipping of Wabash College in their only contest last week. Ohio Wesleyan University is the only other North Coast Athletic Conference team in the poll as the Battling Bishops currently sit in the fifth spot with a 7-0-2 record. Regionally, Allegheny climbed to No. 3 once again this season, jumping ahead of both Baldwin-Wallace College (8-1-1) and The College of Wooster (7-1-1). The Gators, who had been third in the regional rankings in the previous two polls before last week, trail only Ohio Wesleyan and Case Western Reserve University (9-0-1), which is also the No. 15 team in the nation. Allegheny has a pair of key NCAC contests on tap this week, beginning with a home date against Oberlin College on Tuesday, October 3, at 7 p.m. The Gators end the week at Kenyon College on Saturday, October 7, at 3:30 p.m.
