Gators Finish 11th at Bucknell Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. – In a field consisting primarily of NCAA Division I and II schools, the Allegheny College women’s golf team more than held its own, finishing in a tie for 11th place among the 17-team field at the conclusion of the Bucknell Fall Classic on Sunday, October 1.

After sitting 12th at the end of the first day of play with 350 strokes, Allegheny fell one stroke in the final round, carding a 351 to move into a tie with Kutztown University. Host Bucknell University took home the team title by holding off Lehigh University by one stroke, 632-633.

Junior Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) earned top honors for the Gators by finishing in a tie for 25th with a two-day total of 168. Sophomore Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenview South) tied Coleman for the best round on the second day with an 83 and finished in a tie for 33rd overall (172).

After shooting a team-best 82 on Saturday, sophomore Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) dropped to a 93 on Sunday to finish tied for 41st (175). Rounding out the starting five for Allegheny were Lauren Torso (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley), who finished in a tie for 68th (186), just ahead of teammate Kim Elam (Batavia, Ill./Batavia), who tied for 71st with rounds of 95 and 93 (188).

The Gators continue their fall season next weekend (October 6-7) at the California (Pa.) Invitational.
