The Allegheny College men’s soccer team dropped one spot in the latest NSCAA/adidas® regional rankings, falling from No. 3 to No. 4 in the fourth poll released by the national soccer organization. The Gators also dropped out of the national top 25 for the first time this season, landing in the “receiving votes” category after posting a 0-1-1 week against two nationally-ranked opponents.

Allegheny had been the third-ranked team in the Great Lakes Region in each of the past two polls, but a 1-1 tie with second-ranked Baldwin-Wallace College and a 2-1 loss to top-ranked Ohio Wesleyan University helped the fourth team in last week’s poll, The College of Wooster, leap over the Gators into third. The poll could once again see a shake up next week as the Fighting Scots suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of the fifth-ranked team in the region, Case Western Reserve University, just last night.

Each of the top three teams in the region are also ranked nationally with the Battling Bishops sitting third, the Yellow Jackets in 10th, and Wooster at No. 18. Allegheny, which was 19th in last week’s national poll, dropped out of the regular season rankings for the first time this season.

The Gators will aim to get back on track this week with their second North Coast Athletic Conference game against Wabash College at Frank B. Fuhrer Field in Meadville, Pa., at 1 p.m.
