COLUMBIA STATION, Ohio – The Allegheny College women’s golf team began its sophomore campaign with a third-place finish at the Lady Yellow Jacket Fall Invitational Tournament hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College at the Mallard Creek Golf Course in Columbia Station, Ohio. The Gators, who capped their inaugural season as a varsity program with a trip to the NCAA Tournament last spring, finished with a total score of 343 as a team on the par-71, 5,802-yard course.

Otterbein College took home the team title with a 48-over 332 as two Cardinals placed among the top-three. The runner-up position went to Olivet College with 336 strokes, just seven ahead of Allegheny. Baldwin-Wallace placed fourth with a team-score of 358, followed closely by conference rivals John Carroll University (360) and Ohio Northern University (362).

Individually for the Gators, Jamie Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) turned in a score of 82 to finish in a tie for fifth overall. Noteworthy, Reints’ score on the back-nine (37) was two strokes better than any other individual at the tournament. Not far behind were Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) and Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) who each carded 86s on the day to finish tied for ninth.

Rounding out the starters for Allegheny were Kim Elam (Batavia, Ill./Batavia), who carded an 89 to finish tied for 17th, and Lauren Torso (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley), who was tied for 37th with a round of 97.

Two other Gators also competed at the event as Katie Donaldson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) and Kelly Dreher (Westlake, Ohio/Magnificat) tied for 51st with identical scores of 106.

Allegheny continues its fall slate next weekend at the Mercyhurst Invitational on September 23-24.
