Boxscore

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – For the second consecutive day, the Allegheny College women’s soccer team couldn’t find the offensive touch at the Nazareth Tournament as the Gators fell 2-0 to William Smith College Sunday afternoon. Allegheny, who lost 3-0 to host Nazareth on Saturday, dropped to 0-2 on the year.

William Smith, who finished 15-2-1 and competed in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2005, tacked on the only scores in the contest midway through the first half. Alex Rieben converted a penalty kick at 21:23 and Laura Burnett-Kurie added an unassisted goal just nine minutes later.

The Gators were stymied by the Heron defense, managing just three shots at the goal, all of which were stopped by the goalkeeper. William Smith made 10 shot attempts and held the edge in corner kicks 6-2.

Junior Danielle Brigham (Erie, Pa./Harbor Creek), starting for the second straight game at goalie, tallied four saves for Allegheny.

The Gators aim to get back on track with their first home match of the season on Wednesday, September 6, against Mount Union College at 4:30 p.m.
