Gator Soccer Tabbed Sixth in Preseason Poll

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The North Coast Athletic Conference women’s soccer coaches picked Allegheny College to finish sixth out of nine teams for the upcoming 2006 season in balloting released by the league office on Monday, August 28.
The Gators received 40 points from the coaches to finish behind Kenyon College and The College of Wooster, who tied for fourth with 49 points. Leading the voting was defending regular season champion Denison University with 79 points, including seven first-place votes, while Ohio Wesleyan University and Wittenberg University came in second and third with 71 and 59 points, respectively. The Battling Bishops, the 2005 NCAC Tournament champions, also received the remaining two first-place votes.
Rounding out the field were Earlham College (30), Oberlin College (17), and Hiram College (11).
Allegheny returns 17 letterwinners and seven starters for the 2006 season. The Gators finished their first year under head coach Michael Webber with a record of 10-5-2, including a fifth-place finish in the NCAC with a 4-3-1 mark.
