Gators Land Academic Honors
Jul 20, 2006 MEADVILLE, Pa. – The honors keep rolling in for the Allegheny College track and field teams as the entire women’s squad was recently named to the NCAA Division III All-Academic team by the United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team a team required a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the academic year.
The Gator women continued their dominance in the NCAC this past season, sweeping the indoor and outdoor championships for the second consecutive year. Allegheny took both titles in dominating fashion, winning by 32 points indoors and 73 at the outdoor meet, while head coach Bill Ross picked up Coach of the Year honors for both seasons. The Allegheny thinclads also finished each season ranked first in the region and sent four competitors to nationals with one garnering All-America honors.
