Ross Named Mideast Coach of Year

LISLE, Ill. - Allegheny College head men’s and women’s track coach has been named the Mideast Women’s Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The award is the seventh by Ross during his tenure at Allegheny.

Ross helped lead the Gator women’s team to the North Coast Athletic Conference title by a 73-point margin. He adds to his already lengthy list of accolades this season, of which include the Indoor Mideast Region Coach of the Year, NCAC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year, the Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track Coach of the Year and the Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

The Gator women placed 70th at the 2006 National Meet while the men took 61st. Allegheny swept the NCAC Track and Field titles, winning both the indoor and outdoor championships for both men and women. On the men’s side, the team set meet records for points in both indoors and outdoors, while the men’s team won the 2005 NCAC Cross Country Title.
