Pair of Gators Earn NCAA Berth

LISLE, Ill. – The field for the NCAA Division III National Meet has been set, as a pair of Allegheny College Gators are in the field for the final competition of the 2005-06 season hosted by Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.

Ryan Place (Meshoppen/Elk Lake) is seeded seventh in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:34.01, while teammate Ben Mourer (Chicora/Karns City) missed making the field, as his time of 14:42.75 was just .22 away from Neil Holschulte of Williams College, the final entry into the field.

Vince Werner (Sheffield), who had a toss of 197-0 on April 1, is seeded 10th in the javelin, an event in which he qualified last year, as his best toss of 178-10 missed advancing to the finals.

The National Meet starts on Thursday, May 25. Allegheny’s two qualifiers each compete on the third and final day of competition, Saturday the 27, as the javelin starts at 2:00 p.m. (CST) while the 5,000-meter run is at 4:20 p.m. (CST).
