BEREA, Ohio – In a final tune-up before nationals, the Allegheny College women’s track and field team traveled to Berea, Ohio to compete in the Baldwin-Wallace Last Chance Twilight Meet. The Gators were unable to better any previous qualifying marks at the meet, as rain and the cold made for non-ideal conditions.

Elizabeth Earley (Venetia/Peters Township), a sophomore, missed her career best in the hammer throw by just over two feet, tossing to a distance of 164-1, placing second in the competition. Earley’s best throw this season, 166-2, currently stands as the 10th best toss in the country, while her 164-1 toss in the meet is still further than the 11th place competitor.

Sophomore Sarah Sammel (Pittsburgh/Bethel Park) cleared a height of 11-0 in the pole vault, while her season best of 11-9.75 has her sitting in 15th place in the country heading into the National Meet.

Junior Scarlett Graham (Farmington/Uniontown) took fourth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:39.22, less than a second and a half off of her season best time of 4:37.94, a time that currently ranks her 26th in Division III.

A trio of Gators, Emily Pfeufer (St. Marys/Elk County Catholic), Katie Pankowski (Pittsburgh/Woodland Hills) and Laura Schuh (Orchard Park, N.Y./Hamburg) each competed in the javelin. Pfeufer led the trio with a toss of 108-11, while Pankowski and Schuh had best tosses of 108-2 and 82-0.

Freshman Elyse Kebert (Meadville) leaped to a distance of 34-0.75 in the triple jump, placing seventh in the event.

Kim Tranel (E. Dubuque, Ill./Wahlert (Iowa)) set a season best in the 3,000-meter steeple chase, finishing in a time of 12:24.96, while teammate Adrianne Grand (Pittsburgh/Keystone Oaks) ran to a time of 13:40.31.
