Gators Send Four to North Central
May 13, 2006
Naperville, Ill. - The Allegheny College women's track and field team sent four athletes to the Dr. Keeler Invitational, hosted by North Central College. A large "last-chance" meet, the field was full of athletes attempting to achieve season bests heading into the national championships.
Current Gator provisional qualifiers Emily Pfeufer (St. Marys/ Elk County Catholic) and Scarlett Graham (Farmington/ Uniontown) were on hand, trying to better their previous qualifying marks. Pfeufer hit a provisional mark in the triple jump with a second place leap of 37'4.5", but did not reach a season best. She also competed in the long jump, where she traveled 17'0.5" to place fourteenth. Graham also hit a provisional mark, hers in the 1,500-meter run, with a time of 4:40.91, good for eighth, but again not a season best.
Allegheny's final two competitors were Katie Pankowski (Pittsburgh/ Woodland Hills) and Molly McGravey (Orchard Park, N.Y.). Pankowski placed third in the javelin with a toss of 107'2", while McGravey placed twenty-second in the 1,500 with a time of 4:57.29.
The Blue and Gold will attend one more last-chance meet next weekend, when they head to Berea, Ohio for the Baldwin-Wallace Twilight Meet. The NCAA Division III National Championships take place the following week, May 25-27, at Benedictine (Ill.).
