Gator Women Take Ninth at NCAA’s

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – In their inaugural NCAA tournament, the Allegheny College women’s golf team placed ninth overall, shooting a four-day team score of 1,418. The Gators improved their scores in each of the first three days, before shooting a 350 on the final day.

Methodist University dominated the event, carding the four lowest scores of the tournament en route to a total of 1,240, 76 strokes ahead of second place Gustavus Adolphus.

The Gators’ ninth place finish was just 14 strokes behind Hardin-Simmons University, as the squad was a comfortable 23 strokes ahead of 10th place.

Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) was the top Gator golfer for the third straight day, carding a score of 85 on the final day, giving her 343 strokes for the tournament, placing her 31st among her competitors.

Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) ended the fourth day by carding an 87, 14 over par, giving her 353 strokes for the tournament. Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) also ended the tournament with a total of 353, carding a 17-over 90 on the final day.

Rounding out the scoring four for the Gators was Erin Winings (Rockford, Ohio/Parkway) who carded a fourth-day total of 88, as she improved every day of the event, shooting a four-day total of 370. Lauren Torso (Zelienople/Seneca Valley) also golfed for the Gators, shooting a fourth-round score of 91, and carding a four-day total of 386. Like Winings, Torso also improved every day of the event.
