Six Gators Earn All-NCAC Honors

All-NCAC Teams

CLEVELAND – Six Allegheny College Gators earned All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors, led by Emily Deering (Hollis, Maine/Bonny Eagle), right, who was named the NCAC Defender of the Year, as the Gators set a school record for wins in a season, when they picked up their ninth win in the first round of the NCAC Tournament.

Deering, Ashley Rogerson (Fairport, N.Y.) and Ashley Hughes (Wexford/North Allegheny) were each named to the All-League First Team, while Michelle Dudevoir (West Point, N.Y./O’Neill), Kelly Towns (Pittsburgh/Mt. Lebanon) and Laura Hoch (Moon Township/Sewickley Academy) were named to the Honorable Mention squad.

Deering, the school’s all-time leading scorer, ended the season with 22 goals and seven assists, while also leading the team with 36 draw controls, 61 ground balls and 51 caused turnovers. Deering is a four-year All-NCAC First Team member.

Rogerson was second on the team with 24 goals and 11 assists, en route to earning her third First Team All-NCAC honors. She was also second on the team with 39 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers.

Hughes, left, who was named First Team All-NCAC last season as a freshman, led the team with 34 goals and 13 assists for a total of 47 points. The 47 points is tied for the third most single season points in school history.

Dudevoir ended the season with 22 goals, including a pair of four-goal games on the year. She dished out seven assists, while picking up 16 ground balls.

Hoch scored 18 goals on the season, fifth most on the squad, picking up 17 ground balls and nabbing 16 draw controls.

Towns rounded out the Gator double figure goal scorers with 14 goals, causing 20 turnovers and picking up 19 ground balls during the season.
