Gator Pair Named All-Region

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Two Allegheny College softball players, Abby Bodenlos (Pittsburgh/Shady Side Academy) and Rachel Ryan (West Salem, Ohio/Northwestern), were named to the Third Team All-Central Region squad.

Bodenlos, a sophomore second baseman, led the team with 22 steals on 22 attempts, a NCAC single season record, while batting .315 with a team-high four home runs and 29 runs batted in. She also hit seven doubles and four triples, while scoring 31 times.

Ryan, a freshman shortstop, was the team leader in batting average, hitting at a clip of .423, runs with 39, triples with five and slugging percentage, .650. She also drove in 22 runs and stole 12 bases on the season. Ryan had a 19-8 walk to strikeout ratio, the only Gator to have more walks than strikeouts on the season.

The Gators ended the 2006 season with a 19-21 record, including going 8-6 in North Coast Athletic Conference games.
