Gator Women Take Eighth at Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Allegheny College Gator women’s golf team took eighth place of 10 teams at the predominately NCAA Division II field, shooting a two-day total of 699 at the Ashland University Invitational.

Ferris State won the two-day event with a total of 641, as SIU Edwardsville and Northwood (Mich.) placed second and third, shooting a 665 and 676, respectively. The only other NCAA Division III team in the field was Otterbein College, who placed sixth, and finished 12 strokes ahead of the Gators with a 687.

Leading the way for the Blue and Gold was Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South), who shot a 90 on the first day before shooting an eight-over 80 on the second day, carding a two-day total of 170, which was tied for the 17th best score in the tournament. Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) tied for 22nd overall by shooting back-to-back rounds of 82 and 89, for a 171 on the two days, while Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) tied for 29th, shooting an 87 on both days for a two-day total of 174. Erin Winings (Rockford, Ohio/Parkway) rounded out the scoring four for the Gators by shooting a 95 and 89, a two-day total of 184, good for a tie of 42nd place.

Also golfing for the Blue and Gold was Katie Donaldson (Pittsburgh/Keystone Oaks) and Jenifer Vota (Elizabeth/Elizabeth Forward), who shot two-day totals of 212 and 224, placing 58th and 60th, respectively.

The squad takes to the road on Monday, April 17 when the team competes at the Westminster Invitational in New Wilmington, Pa.
