SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – For the third time this season, Allegheny College sophomore jumper Emily Pfeufer (St. Mary’s, Pa./Elk County Catholic) has set the triple jump record, this time leaping to a distance of 38-4.5, putting her fifth among her counterparts in Division III this season.

Pfeufer placed second in the triple jump, while also meeting NCAC Championship marks in two other events, the long jump and the 100 hurdles. In the long jump, Pfeufer, who missed the school record in the long jump by an inch last week, jumped 17-2.5 at Slippery Rock, missing the school record by four inches. She also ran a personal best in the 100 hurdles, sprinting to a time of 16.60, giving the Gators a group of five women qualified in the short hurdle event.

Elyse Kebert (Meadville) led the Gators in the hurdles, sprinting to a time of 15.92, while Liz Straus (Kirtland, Ohio) and Pfeufer tied with a 16.60. Caitlin Nay (Uniontown, Ohio/Green) and Jessica Gratton (Bridgeville/Chartiers Valley) ran times of 16.69 and 16.84, comfortably under the NCAC qualifying mark of 17.59.

Kebert and Amanda Grilli (Washington/Trinity) each bettered their NCAC qualifying marks in the triple jump, Kebert leaping 35-4.6 and Grilli 35-1.0, placing 10th and 12th, respectively. Grilli also placed 10th in the long jump, leaping to a season-best distance of 16-7.

Rashelle Glass (New Castle/Shenango) and Caroline LaRochelle (Meadville) teamed up to place fourth and sixth in the 800-meter run, respectively, running to NCAC qualifying times of 2:25.71 and 2:26.82, each. LaRochelle preceded her 800-meter qualifying mark with a season best in the 1500-meter run, finishing the three and three-quarter lap race in 5:06.14, giving the Gators six runners qualified in the event.

A trio of Gators met the NCAC qualifying mark in the javelin throw, but didn’t pass their season best, as Katie Pankowski (Pittsburgh/Woodland Hills) placed eighth with a toss of 108-11. Laura Schuh (Orchard Park, N.Y./Hamburg) and Jessica Pennisi (Milltown, N.J./East Brunswick) placed 16th and 17th, respectively, tossing the spear 98-8.5 and 95-1.5 feet, respectively.

Elizabeth Earley (Venetia/Peters Township) placed in the top 20 in three events, placing seventh in the hammer throw (149-10), tenth in the shot put (39-6.0) and 18th in the discus (108-9).

Sarah Sammel (Pittsburgh/Bethel Park) placed second in the pole vault, leaping to a height of 11-0.0, while Schuh placed eighth in the high jump, clearing 5-0.

Straus took 11th in the 400-meter hurdles with an NCAC qualifying mark of 1:09.65, while Jessie Shields (Union City) met the qualifying mark in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.45.
