Gator Women in Eighth at Ashland
Apr 14, 2006 ASHLAND, Ohio – The Allegheny College women’s golf team traveled to Ohio today for the second straight match, this time to compete in the Ashland Invitational in Ashland, Ohio. After day one, the Gators sit in eighth of eleven teams in a field of primarily Division II competitors.
Currently atop the standings is Ferris State, having shot a four-person score of 319. Six strokes back is SIU-Edwardsville with a 325, with the next closest team 17 strokes behind, Findlay having tallied a 342. Host Ashland is tied for fourth with Northwood at 344 strokes, while California (Pa.) and Otterbein sit at 345. Allegheny has a score of 354 strokes, with Lewis (363), Tiffin (374), and Humber (Canada) (382) rounding out the field.
Allegheny’s low round of the day came from Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./ Frontier Central) (right). The sophomore shot a score of 82 at the par 72, 5,856 yard Country Club of Ashland. Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./ St. Charles East) came in at 87, while Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./ Glenbrook South) posted a round of 90. Erin Winings (Rockford, Ohio/ Parkway) rounded out the scoring four for the Gators with a tally of 95. Jennifer Vota (Elizabeth/ Elizabeth Forward) and Katie Donaldson (Pittsburgh/ Keystone Oaks) were also in action for the Blue and Gold, shooting scores of 109 and 110, respectively.
Day two action begins at 11:00 a.m., with the first Gator set to tee off at 11:56 a.m.
