Boxscore

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College lacrosse team fell to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with a 14-8 loss to Wooster (4-2, 1-0 NCAC) this afternoon at Robertson Field. A quartet of Gators picked up two goals apiece in the game.

The Fighting Scots and the Gators went back and forth over the first 15 minutes of the game, with Wooster getting the early 4-3 lead. The Scots eventually got hot, however, scoring five straight goals, increasing their lead to 9-3. Allegheny added a late goal, but still trailed by five at the half.

Michelle Dudevoir (West Point, N.Y./ O’Neill) scored her second goal of the game to get things rolling in the second half for the Gators, and after a Wooster goal, Emily Deering (Hollis, Maine/ Bonny Eagle) collected her second goal as well. With the score now 10-6 in Wooster’s favor, the visitors rattled off three consecutive goals, taking the 13-6 lead, and went on to win 14-8.

Ashley Hughes (Wexford/ North Allegheny) and Kelly Towns (Pittsburgh/ Mt. Lebanon) (right) joined Dudevoir and Deering at the two-goal plateau, while Hughes and Dudevoir also picked up one assist each. Deering led all players in ground balls, with five, and caused turnovers, with six.

Ground balls were even at 14 apiece in the game, but Wooster had the 28-23 advantage in shots, and won 19-of-24 draw controls. Both keepers made six saves.

Allegheny plays again tomorrow, as the team will head to Buffalo State for a 4:00 p.m. game.
