Gators Second at McDaniel Invitational

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Allegheny College women’s golf team sits in second place of five teams after the first of two days at the McDaniel Invitational in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

The Blue and Gold trail just Division II Kutztown in the event, as Golden Bears carded a team score of 360, one stroke ahead of Allegheny’s 361. Gettysburg is third in the event with 382 strokes, while Washington & Jefferson and McDaniel are fourth and fifth with scores of 395 and 412, respectively.

The Gators were led by the duo of Lisa Coleman (Lakeview, N.Y./Frontier Central) and Jaime Reints (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East), who each shot an 88 on the difficult course, which was made more difficult due to a steady and strong wind, while Erin Winings (Rockford, Ohio/Parkway) shot a 92. Alison Bruckner (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) rounded out the scoring four for the Gators with a 93, while Lauren Torso (Zelienople/Seneca Valley) was just off of the pace with a 95. Jen Vota (Elizabeth/Elizabeth Forward) rounded out the Gator golfers with a 118.

Competition continues tomorrow in the second day of the event, with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.
