NCAC Tournament Bracket (PDF)

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College women’s basketball team (17-8, 13-3 NCAC) has earned the #2 seed in the NCAC Tournament, and will host #7 Earlham (5-20, 4-12) in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the David V. Wise Center.

The match-up was determined after NCAC regular season play concluded this afternoon. The pairing would appear to be a favorable one for Allegheny, as the Gators defeated Earlham on the road by a final of 88-52 on January 7, and then won at home on February 3, defeating the Quakers by a final of 88-74.

The #1 seed for this year’s NCAC playoffs is Wittenberg (18-7, 14-2), whose only conference losses came at the hands of Denison (19-6, 11-5) and Kenyon (19-6, 11-5). Denison earned the #3 seed via a tiebreaker, and will host #6 Wooster (7-18, 4-12), while Kenyon grabbed the #4 spot and will host #5 Ohio Wesleyan (14-11, 10-6). Wittenberg, meanwhile, hosts #8 Hiram (8-16, 3-13), and will host Friday and Saturday’s semifinal and final round action with a win. If Wittenberg falls, however, the highest remaining seed after Tuesday will host the weekend games.

A Blue and Gold victory Tuesday will help the Gators match their 18-game win total of a year ago, and will advance the team to the semifinals of the NCAC Tournament. Last season, in quarterfinal action, the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops got the best of the Blue and Gold by a final of 57-51 after having falling to the Gators twice in the regular season. Two years ago the Gators defeated Wooster in the quarterfinals and Denison in the semifinals before falling to Wittenberg in the championship.
