KENT, Ohio – The Allegheny College indoor track and field teams continued from where they left off last night at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala, as more Gators qualified for the NCAC Championship Meet.

The top performance on the women’s side came from sophomore Sarah Sammel (Pittsburgh/ Bethel Park), as she cleared 10’6.75” in the women’s pole vault to place in a tie for third. The effort qualified Sammel for the NCAC Championships, as did sophomore Emily Pfeufer’s (St. Marys/ Elk County Catholic) leaps in the long and triple jumps. Pfeufer’s best mark in the long jump was 15’1.25”, while she triple-jumped 33’7.25”. Liz Earley (Venetia/ Peters Township) was the final female competitor for Allegheny, as she competed in the shot put, and had an NCAC qualifying mark of 38’7.5”.

A trio of Gators hit the NCAC standard in the 3,000-meter run, as senior Chris Carrier (Lyndhurst, Ohio/ Charles F. Brush) led the way with a fourth place time of 8:54.44. Not far off Carrier’s heals were juniors Ben Mourer (Chicora/ Karns City) and Marco Dozzi (Pittsburgh/ Chartiers Valley), who placed 6th and 7th, respectively, with times of 9:02.12 and 9:03.09.

In men’s field events, Conrad Rapp (Medway, Mass./ Worcester Academy) cleared 14’6” in the pole vault, while freshman Peter Sotherland (Kalamazoo, Mich./ Kalamazoo Central) cleared 12’5.5”, both qualifying for the NCAC Championship Meet. Also qualifying for conferences were Pat Confer (Bradford) and Kitt Tuttle (Alexandria, Va./ TC Williams) in the shot put. Confer had a throw of 45’0.25”, while Tuttle had a toss of 43’9.25”.

The teams won’t compete again until January 20, when they will head to Berea, Ohio for the Baldwin-Wallace Invitational.
