MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College women’s soccer team had five players named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) team, announced Tuesday, November 15. Senior midfielder Ashley Rogerson (Fairport, N.Y.) (right) made the first team, senior goalkeeper Beth Van Parys (Erie/ Villa Maria Academy) and senior defender Stacy Miller (Wexford/ North Alleghney) (below) were named to the second team, and freshman midfielder Katie Murphy (Venetia/ Peters Township) and junior defender Robin Bunch (Pittsburgh/ Mt. Lebanon) made honorable mention.

Rogerson had an outstanding senior campaign, scoring a team-high eleven goals, four of which were game-winners, while also collecting two assists. She started all 17 of the team’s games, and will wrap up her collegiate athletic career this spring as a member of the Allegheny lacrosse team.

Van Parys spent time in goal in each of her four seasons with the Blue and Gold, saving her best season for last, tallying eight shutouts and posting a goals against average of 0.63 in her 17 starts. Van Parys is now entering basketball season, and will look to make an impact from the guard position.

Miller supported Van Parys and the defense for four seasons, playing in 61 games over that span and in all 17 games of her senior season. Bunch has played in 52 games over her three years, and like Miller, started every game of 2005. Both players are a large reason the Gators allowed just 11 goals on the year. Opponents failed to score on the Gator defense in nine of 17 games and scored just one goal in five others.

Murphy got off to a fast start in her freshman year, starting and scoring in each of her first two games. She went on to start in 14 more contests, collecting a total of seven goals and four assists for the season. Two of Murphy’s three game-winning goals came in tight, 1-0 victories.

The Gators wrapped up the season with a final record of 10-5-2 overall and a final NCAC record of 4-3-1, falling just short of qualifying for the NCAC playoffs.
