GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Allegheny College women’s soccer team dropped to 2-3-1 in league play and 8-5-2 overall with a 2-1 loss to Denison (12-2-2) today in Granville, Ohio. The Big Red scored two goals in the first half against the Gators and held on for the victory, as they remained unbeaten in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) at 6-0.

Scores in the seventh and thirty-eighth minutes put Denison up 2-0, as the Gators were out-shot 10-3 in the first period. After the half the Blue and Gold came out firing, and reduced the deficit to one in the sixty-second minute, as Meghan Borden (Harrison City/ Penn-Trafford) found the back of the net on an assist from Ashley Rogerson (Fairport, N.Y.). The score was not enough, however, as the remainder of the game went scoreless for both teams.

Senior goalkeeper Beth Van Parys (Erie/ Villa Maria Academy) made 10 stops in the loss, while Rogerson’s assist earned her point number 20 of the season, a team-high.

The Blue and Gold are home on Wednesday, October 26, against Hiram at 4:00 p.m. in the last Gator home contest of the season. The team then wraps up regular season play on the road against Kenyon in a 12:00 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, October 29.
