Gators Come up Short Against Terriers

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny Gators fell to 6-6-3, 4-2 NCAC in a tough 2-1 loss to the Hiram Terriers (6-6-1, 1-5-1 NCAC) on a dreary Wednesday afternoon.

Allegheny got off to a quick start in the first half off junior Alan Carr’s (Blairstown, N.J./Blair Academy) eighth goal of the season, with an assist from freshman Nate Yates (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights). Carr scored off a deflection from Yates, which Carr put into the lower left corner of the net. The Gators continued a strong first half and out shot Hiram 6-1, but could not punch in another goal.

Hiram came out strong in the second half and tied the game up 10 minutes into the period. Branko Bukvic scored off his own deflection, knotting the game up at 1. For the next 30 minutes, the Gators and Terriers battled until Mario Reyes hit the game-winning goal with eight and a half minutes remaining.

Allegheny travels to Crawfordsville, Ind. to face the Wabash Little Giants on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 12:00 pm.
