Allegheny Falls to Oberlin, 2-1
October 4, 2005
OBERLIN, Ohio – The Allegheny College men’s soccer team fell in conference action this evening to Oberlin (Ohio) College. Oberlin got the 2-0 lead, and held on for the win, as the Gators dropped to 4-4-3 on the season and 2-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).
A header by Oberlin’s Sam Zackheim got the Yeomen on the board just before the half, and another header by Zackheim right after the break put the home team up by two. The Gators put together a strong series of attacks in the second half, but Alan Carr’s (Blairstown, N.J./ Blair Academy) score on a corner kick from Andrew Stutzman (Pittsburgh/Upper St. Clair) was the only goal Allegheny could manage.
Carr’s goal was his team-high sixth on the season while Stutzman collected his first point of the year with the assist. The streak of one-goal games continued for the Gators, as they have not had a win or loss by more than that margin in eleven games this season.
Allegheny returns home this Saturday for homecoming, and the third game in a string of four conference match-ups. The contest will be played against the Kenyon Lords at 1:30 p.m. at Robertson Field.
