UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – After trailing 2-0 with under 15 minutes to play in the game, the Allegheny Gators responded with a pair of goals, nearly 10 minutes apart, to tie the John Carroll Blue Streaks 2-2 in a non-conference battle.

The Blue Streaks reached the scoreboard first with a goal just over 30 minutes into the game, giving the first half its only score, sending JCU into the locker room with a one-goal lead.

In the second half the Blue Streaks added another goal, giving them a 2-0 lead with 25 minutes to play in the game. Nathaniel Yates (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) scored his second goal of the season with 14:56 left on the game clock from a cross from Mark Dobish (New Wilmington/Wilmington Area), cutting the deficit to 2-1. A little over ten minutes later Daniel Carik (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) scored an unassisted goal, with less than 10 minutes left on the clock, knotting the game at two.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the two, ten minute overtime periods, sending the Gators home with their third tie of the year.

Brian Manougian (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) stopped five shots in 110 minutes of action, while his counterpart on the John Carroll sideline also stopped five shots while allowing the two goals.

With the tie, Allegheny takes its record to 3-3-3 on the year while John Carroll goes to 2-5-1.

The next game for the Blue and Gold is on Saturday, October 1, as the team plays in a men’s/women’s double header against Earlham College, with the women’s game starting at noon and the men’s game at 2:00 p.m.
