MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College Gators improved to 2-3-2 on the year with their first home win of the season, defeating the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin-Wallace College by a 1-0 score in overtime.

The two teams battled through two scoreless periods, with the Yellow Jackets out-shooting the Gators 11-8 through the first 90 minutes. AC came out firing in the overtime period, and scored the winning goal just 2:15 into the period when Alex Habay (Gibsonia/Knoch) picked up a free ball in the left hand side of the field, beat his defender towards the middle and chipped the ball past the keeper into the upper right 90 for the first goal of his Allegheny career, and the victory.

Brian Manougian (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) picked up the shutout victory, stopping four shots for his first shutout of the year while his counterpart in the Baldwin-Wallace goal, Nate Christian, stopped three shots in the loss.

With the win, the Gators improve to 2-3-2 on the year while B-W falls to 6-3-0 in 2005.

The next game for the Blue and Gold is on Saturday, September 24 when the team plays host to the Big Red of Denison University in the first game of a men’s/women’s double header starting at noon, as the women play host to the Wolverines of Grove City College starting at 2:00 p.m.
