Allegheny Falls to Mount Union in Men’s Soccer Action
September 14, 2005
ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Allegheny Gators entered tonight’s game hot off a win against Washington & Jefferson, the team’s first victory of the season. Tonight, however, Allegheny faced a very talented Mount Union squad, and fell by a score of 3-2.
Mount Union got the scoring started 15 minutes into the contest, but the Gators answered quickly, as Alan Carr (Blairstown, N.J./ Blair Academy) scored on a pass from David Roberts (Lancaster, Pa./ Hempfield). The goal was Carr’s second of the season, while the assist marked the first point of the year for Roberts. Just over two minutes after Carr’s goal, Nathaniel Yates (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) found the back of the net for the second time in his freshman campaign, putting the Gators ahead 2-1.
Two more minutes later, in the twenty-sixth minute, another goal was scored, but this time it was Mount Union that did the damage, tying the game at two. Then, ten minutes later, and already with four first-half goals between the two teams, the Purple Raiders scored the final goal of the contest.
The loss puts the Blue and Gold at 1-2-2 on the year. The Gators return to Robertson Field in search of their second win this Saturday, September 17, when they will face Marietta in a 2:00 p.m. game.
