September 10, 2005

Boxscore

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny women’s soccer team faced Case Western today at Robertson Field, the first game on the home pitch for the Gators this season. It didn’t take long for the team to start things off right in front of the Allegheny crowd, as just three minutes into the game Ashley Rogerson (Fairport, N.Y./ Fairport) scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal, as the Gators cruised to the 4-0 win.

After Rogerson got Allegheny on the board, Rebecca Rotoloni (McMurray, Pa./ Peters Township) followed up with a goal of her own just 34 seconds later, which ended the scoring in the first half. Allegheny wasn’t done scoring, however, as Rogerson got her second goal of the game with 30 minutes left in the contest before freshman Christy McShea (Murrysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) added some extra cushioning in minute 76 with her first collegiate goal.

Overall, the Gators out-shot Case 14-9, and had the 10-5 advantage in shots on goal. Senior keeper Beth Van Parys (Erie, Pa./ Villa Maria Academy) got the shutout, stopping five shots in the process.

Allegheny, now 3-1 on the season, is next in action at Westminster on Wednesday, September 14, at 4:30 p.m.
