MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Allegheny College men’s soccer team got its second tie of the season tonight, moving it to 0-1-2 on the year. The Gators struck first, as freshman Ryan Floyd (McMurray, Pa./ Peters Township) headed in his first collegiate goal in the seventy-eighth minute. The assist came from the foot of junior Daniel Carik (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Chartiers Valley). It took Case just four minutes to answer, however, and the game went through two overtimes without another score.

Floyd’s goal was drilled into the lower left corner of the net, and it seemed as if the Gators would be able to hold on for their first win of the year. Case found an opportunity to strike back quickly, as Neal Duryea was one on one with Allegheny keeper Brian Manougian (Rye, N.H./ Portsmouth). As Manougian came forward to cut down Duryea’s angle, the Spartan passed to teammate Kevin Bigart, who found the far left corner.

Allegheny had some great scoring chances in overtime, but missed those shots wide of their target. The Gators are next in action Sunday, when they head to Washington and Jefferson for a 1:00 p.m. game.
