ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Allegheny started their season playing host Nazareth College in the Nazareth Tournament. The game finished in a 1-1 tie in double overtime.
The first-half finished in a 0-0 draw. Nazareth struck first as Chad Kies found Paul Pacito open for a goal, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead, two minutes into the second-half.
The day seemed weary for the visiting Gators until sophomore forward Robert DelGreco (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Seton-LaSalle) tied the game with 12 seconds remaining. Neither team was able to score in the two 10 minute overtime periods.
Senior Brian Manougian (Rye, N.H./ Portsmouth) tied Nazareth goalie Alex Kilroy with six saves. Both teams had 18 shots, but Nazareth out-shot the Gators in the two overtime periods, 5-4.
The Gators look to get their first victory of the season as they remain in the Nazareth Tournament and play Rochester Institute of Technology on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 3:30 p.m.
