Boxscore

Wooster, Ohio – Despite a second half run, the Allegheny women’s lacrosse team came up one goal short of a tie against NCAC defending champion the College of Wooster 12-11. The Gators finish the regular season with an 8-5 mark and a 3-3 record in conference play, as Wooster finishes at 9-3 and 5-1.

Junior Emily Deering (Hollis, Maine/ Bonny Eagle) scored two first half goals after Wooster took an early 4-0 lead, which they increased to 7-3 at the break.

Junior Ashley Rogerson (Fairport, N.Y.) started the eight-goal second half for the Gators a minute-and-a-half after the whistle, setting Allegheny down 8-4.

Wooster looked to have a comfortable 12-7 lead with three minutes to play after Ashley Arnold scored her second goal of the game.

Allegheny wouldn’t back down though, as they attacked hard and scored four goals after the two-minute mark, including Deering’s fourth goal with 10 seconds to play that put the Gators within one goal of heading to overtime.

Freshman Ashley Hughes (Wexford, Pa./ North Allegheny) and junior Danie Parsons (Brookpark, Ohio/ Magnificat) each tallied two goals for the day, with senior Ashley Lemmon (Allison Park, Pa./ Winchester-Thurston) scoring and assisting once.

The Gators will be the four-seed in this weekend’s NCAC tournament at Oberlin (Ohio) College and will face Denison University, who they fell to earlier in the season 8-7 in overtime after leading the entire game.
