Gators Too Much for Mavericks

Meadville, Pa.- The Allegheny College women’s lacrosse team improved its record to 6-2 after an 18-3 victory over visiting Medaille (N.Y) College. The Gators controlled the clock and stat sheet, as they out-shot their opponents 40-6, while only committing eight turnovers to Medaille’s 18.

Senior Ashley Lemmon (Allison Park, Pa./ Winchester-Thurston) got the Gators off to a 1-0 lead and assisted on sophomore Michelle Dudevoir’s (Westpoint, N.Y./ Oneill) goal three minutes later. Allegheny built up a 10-0 lead before Jamie Land scored the Maverick’s first goal. Junior Anna Gordon (Portland, Maine/ Deering) scored the last goal before halftime, putting the Gators ahead 11-1.

Allegheny resumed its dominance in the second half, outscoring the Mavericks 7-2. Dudevoir and Lemmon each had two goals in the second half. Sophomore Kelly Towns (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Mt. Lebanon), junior Emily Deering (Hollis, Maine/ Bonny Eagle), and junior Danie Parsons (Brookpark, Ohio/ Magnificent) each added a goal for the Gators.

Lemmon (right) finished with six points (four goals and two assists), while Dudevoir had four goals, and freshman Ashley Hughes (Wexford, Pa./ North Allegheny) had four points on two goals and two assists.

Gator freshman goalkeeper Lesley Stange (Murrysville, Pa./ Franklin Regional) recorded two saves while facing six shots to get her sixth victory of the season.

The Gators return to action on Sunday April 17th, versus NCAC rival Denison Big University. The game is at Robertson Field and starts at 2:00 p.m.
