Gators Win First Game of Year

Wellington, Fla. – The women’s lacrosse team fell in their first game of the year on Monday, but rebounded well defeating Western Connecticut 11-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
Nine different players scored for the Gators on the day, while two players had multiple goals. Junior midfielder Ashley Rogerson (Fairport, N.Y.) led the attack with three goals, while senior mid Ashley Lemmon (Allison Park, Pa./Winchester-Thurston) tallied two goals and an assist.
Sophomores Michelle Dudevoir (Westpoint, N.Y./Oneill) and Jenn Lockhart (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) both scored from the attack position. Dudevoir also recorded an assist.
A pair of freshman, Jenna Balogh (Richfield, Ohio/Revere) and Ashley Hughes (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) each scored and assisted on a goal as midfielders, while junior Emily Deering (Hollis, Maine/ Bonny Eagle) scored her second goal of the season.
Sophomore Kelly Towns (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) and junior Danie Parsons (Brookpark, Ohio/Magnificat) contributed from their defensive positions and scored one goal apiece.
The Gators have Wednesday off and return to action on Thursday against Fredonia (N.Y.) at 5:30 p.m. in Florida.
