BEREA, Ohio – A total of 14 first place finishes were recorded by the Allegheny College men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams at Friday night’s Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College Invitational.

Highlighting the evening was the falling of two school records. On the women’s side, freshman Liz Earley (Venetia, Pa./ Peters Township) set a new College mark in the weight throw with a best effort of 42 feet, 5.5 inches, which was good enough for second place. Earley's (right) effort also shattered the previous school record by more than six feet.

For the men, senior Kevin Pool (New Windsor, Md./ Westminster) continued his assault on the Allegheny record book, as he eclipsed the previous mark in the one-mile run. His time of 4:20.73 was more than four seconds faster than the second place runner at the B-W meet and nearly three seconds faster than the old school record, which was set way back in 1985.

Other winners on the women’s side included a first place for each of the Shouey sisters. Senior Leah (Franklin, Pa.) set a new track record at B-W’s facility with a mark of 2:19.13 in the 800. After a fourth place showing in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash, Rhue (left) won the event with a time of 6.73 seconds, just .01 ahead of junior RaShawn Allen (Columbus, Ohio/ St. Charles Prep). Rhue also crossed first in the 200 with a winning time of 23.40 seconds.

Pool joined Rhue as a double-winner when he won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:36.59.
