Gators Falter on Road

Granville, Ohio - The Allegheny men’s soccer team traveled to Granville, Ohio to face Denison University for a conference match and dropped a 3-1 decision. Allegheny is now 1-3 in conference play and 4-6-1 overall. Denison improved to 2-1 in the NCAC and 6-5 overall.
Denison opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Steve Worthy converted a penalty kick awarded for a foul by Allegheny junior keeper Tad Rupp (Buckhannon, W.Va./Buckhannon-Upshur) in the box.
Worthy struck again five minutes into the second half, scoring on a header off a Chad Huber corner kick.
The Gators cut the lead in half at the 54:07 mark when sophomore forward Mark Dobish (New Wilmington, Pa.) fed sophomore midfielder Chris Fedele (Williamsville, N.Y.) for his fourth goal of the season.
The Gators momentum was stopped by another Denison goal in the 62nd minute. Matt Shuh scored off a rebounded shot by Ryan Linn to finish the day’s scoring.
Allegheny took seven corner kicks, four in the second half, but couldn’t find the net.
Rupp finished with four saves as Ben Stevens also finished with four saves for Denison.
The Gators travel out of conference to face Nazareth College in New York on Tuesday, October 12, for their next contest.
