Oct 2, 2004 Boxscore
Meadville, Pa. - The Allegheny men’s soccer team lost their first league contest of the year 2-0 to visiting Wittenberg (Ohio) University on Saturday. The Gators are now 4-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC while Wittenberg is 4-6-0 and 1-0.
The Tigers scored in the 56th minute when Sebastian Missura sent a low driving corner kick across the goal line, which was deflected by David Ross for the score.
Wittenberg added an insurance goal thirteen minutes later when Brian Mutton headed in a cross from Joe Zeller.
Allegheny continued to pressure the Wittenberg defense but couldn’t find the goal. The Tigers off-sides trap helped with this as Allegheny was whistled nine different times.
Allegheny’s junior keeper Brian Manougian (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) finished the game with four saves while Ben McAnnis-Entenman also made four saves for Wittenberg.
The Gators will next host Oberlin (Ohio) College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6 at Robertson Field.
