New Concord, Ohio - Senior forward Jason Figura (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) scored his first goal of the season in the 68th minute to give the Allegheny men’s soccer team a victory over host Muskingum (Ohio) College.

Muskingum held a 10-5 shot advantage in the first period but couldn’t get anything past Allegheny junior goalkeeper Brian Manougian (Rye, N.M./Portsmouth) who made four saves in the half.

Action reversed sides in the second half as Allegheny controlled possession and the shot advantage 9-6. Figura’s goal was a 15-yard shot off an assist from senior forward Josh Johnson (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional). The assist was Johnson’s second of the year.

The win was the third shutout of the year for the Gators and Manougian, while Muskingum suffered their first shutout of the year. Manougian finished with five saves.

The Gators return home to face John Carroll on Wednesday, September 29 at 4 p.m. at Robertson Field.
