Grove City, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2004) - The Allegheny women’s soccer team went on the road to defeat Grove City 1-0 Saturday afternoon on a first half goal by sophomore forward Emily Spencer (Evergreen, Colo.).

The win improves the Gators record to 4-2-2 while Grove City drops to 4-5-1.

Spencer scored her first goal of the season at the 22:04 mark of the first half giving the Gators all they would need for the victory.

Allegheny out-shot Grove City 15-4 while taking two more corner kicks (4-2).

Allegheny’s junior goalkeeper Beth Van Parys (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) made one save in her fifth shutout of the year. Grove City’s Kori Koper finished with three saves.

The Gators return to action Monday, September 27 when they host Westminster at 4 p.m. at Robertson Field.
