Allegheny College hosted Washington & Jefferson in men’s soccer action on Saturday, September 11 at 2 p.m. and collected a 1-0 victory.

Senior forward Josh Johnson (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) scored the game-winner in the 68th minute of play.

Allegheny had their opportunities in the first half taking 10 shots, but only three were on goal, while the defense limited W&J’s chances to two shots, both of which were on goal.

The Gators again out-shot the Presidents 12-6 in the second half, pressuring senior goalkeeper Mike Garet and the President defense.

The lone goal of the game came when freshmen midfielder Andrew Stutzman’s (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair) shot bounced off the far post back to Johnson who slipped it by the keeper. Stutzman was credited with the assist.

Allegheny out-shot W&J 22-8, however W&J out-cornered Allegheny 8-1.

Junior goalkeeper Brian Manougian (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) recorded his second shutout with three saves and numerous stops on W&J threats. Garet finished the game with seven saves.
