Gators Tie Capital

Allegheny junior goalkeeper Brian Manougian (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth) defended the net for 110 minutes as Allegheny College tied Capital (Ohio) University 0-0 after two 10-minute overtime periods.

The Gators held a 9-3 shot advantage in the first half, while Capital answered with a 7-2 shot advantage in the second half. Capital continued momentum in overtime with a 3-0 advantage in shots but was unable to capitalize.

Allegheny held the edge in corner kicks 8-6, including five taken in the first half.

Senior midfielder Josh Johnson (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) took four of Allegheny’s six shots on goal.

Manougian finished the game with nine saves while Capital’s goalkeeper, Trae Manny, finished with six.

Allegheny returns to action Wednesday, September 8 at 4:30 PM when they travel to Muskingum (Ohio) College for a non-conference match.
