Gators Find Offense Against Lycoming

Apr 18, 2004

Juniors Ashley Lemmon (Allison Park, Pa./Winchester) and Liz Geller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Quaker Valley) had three goals each as the Allegheny College women’s lacrosse team found their offense in a 14-10 win over Lycoming on Sunday afternoon. The 14 goals are the second most by the Gators this season, who have averaged just 5.67 goals in their previous three games.

Allegheny took a quick 2-0 lead as sophomore Emily Deering (Hollis, Maine/Bonny Eagle) scored twice in the first 7:19 of the game. Lycoming came back with four goals over the next 12 minutes, before Geller netted her first of the game to make it 4-3. The Warriors took a 5-3 lead just minutes later, but goals by sophomore Danie Parsons (Brookpark, Ohio/Magnificat) and sophomore Ashley Rogerson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) knotted the game, 5-5, at the half.

The teams battled back-and-forth in the second half, but Allegheny rattled off five straight goals to extend an 8-7 lead to 13-7 and held on for the win.

Senior Joan Anderson (Holt, Mich./Holt) and freshman Michelle Dudevoir (Westpoint, N.Y./O’Neill) added two goals each. Lemmon added an assist to her three goals to finish with four points while Deering had two goals and two assists.

Lauren Evangelist and Ashley Rowe each had four goals for Lycoming.

Allegheny outshot the host Warriors 40-16 while evening their record at 4-4 on the year. Lycoming falls to 3-9 with the loss.

The Gators travel to Oberlin for a 4:30 p.m. game on Tuesday, April 20.
