Allegheny Loss Against Westminster A Tale of Two Halves
Dec 6, 2003 The Gators scored 36 points and shot 59.3 percent in the first half, but scored just 22 points and shot 28.6 percent in the second half of a 66-58 loss to the Westminster Titans in women’s non-conference basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Buzz Ridl Gymnasium. The fortunes were opposite for the Lady Titans (3-4), who shot just 21.2 percent in first half but caught fire shooting 53.6 percent in the second half.
Allegheny led 36-29 at half time after hitting 16-of-27 shots in the half. However, the Gators managed to convert on just 8-28 shots in the second half and watched their seven-point halftime margin slip away as they were outscored 37-22 in the second stanza.
Jessica Kankoski (Glenshaw, Pa./Fox Chapel) lead the team with 14 point, going 6-of-11 from the field while Caitlin Murtagh (Bethel Park, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) added 10 points. Erica Tallo had 14 point and 14 rebounds for Westminster while the Titans’ Desiree Sterling led all scores with 15 points.
The Gators, now 2-4, travel to Bethany for a 7:00 p.m. game on Tuesday, December 9.
