Nine And Counting, Gators Win On The Road

Leah Karpa (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) scored a goal and assisted on another as the Allegheny women's soccer team won their ninth straight game, 2-0, over Christopher Newport University on Sunday night. The Gators improve to 10-1-1 overall with the win. They are in first place in the North Coast Athletic Conference with a 4-0 mark in conference play.

Karpa got Allegheny on the board in the first half with an unassisted goal at the 20:49 mark. Jill Gray (North East, Pa./North East) made it 2-0 when she converted on a pass from Karpa at 59:11.

Beth Van Parys (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) made five saves in the first half to earn the win.

Allegheny outshot the host Lady Captains 12-8 in the contest. Christopher Newport falls to 7-5 with the loss.

The Gators travel to Penn State-Behrend on Thursday, Oct. 16 for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference tilt.
