Carr Tallies Two Goals As Gators Roll Past Kenyon

Oct 11, 2003

Boxscore

Freshmen forward Alan Carr (Blairstown, N.J./Blair Academy) scored the first two goals of his career as Allegheny College rolled to a 4-0 win over Kenyon College in North Coast Athletic Conference men’s soccer action at Robertson Field on Saturday afternoon. Carr’s goals came just 4:09 apart and both were on assists from senior Ian Fisher (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair).

Allegheny (8-2-1, 3-1 NCAC) got on the board early as junior Mark Sciulli (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) netted his team-leading sixth goal of the season at the 15:27 mark on a through ball played by senior Eric Bland (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead).

Senior Jason Figura (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) added to the lead 3:05 into the second half with help from freshman Duffy Dunnigan (Getzville, N.Y./Williamsville).

Carr then took the spotlight in the 82nd minute, and despite playing a man short, the Gators managed to extend their lead. Carr took a header from Fisher behind the defense and gently flipped the ball over the Kenyon (2-11-1, 0-4 NCAC) goalie who was charging off his line to make it 3-0 Gators. Just 4:09 later, he took a ball an eerily similar play, but this time was forced to shoot through the Lord netminder from 12-yards out. Carr nearly scored a third, but hit the outside of the net with just over a minute left in regulation.

Allegheny outshot the visiting Lords 15-6 in the game as Gator sophomore netminder Brian Manougian (Rye, N.H./Portsmouth Senior) came up with two saves for his third shutout of the season.

Allegheny will travel to Oberlin College on Wednesday, October 15, to take on the Yeomen in a 4:30 NCAC match.
